Peter Jackson cast Thomasin as Astrid in The Hobbit — Battle of the Five Armies. Australian film-maker Alice Englert cast her as one of two leads in short film The Boyfriend Game selected for the Generation K section of the 2015 Berlin Film Festival. At 13 Thomasin played rape victim Louise Nicholas to great acclaim in the award-winning TV drama Consent. She also played central character Pixie Hannah in long-running TV soap Shortland Street in which her battle with cancer won the heart of the nation.
Thomasin is passionate about researching her roles and the issues that confront her characters.
Thomasin’s grandmother is renowned New Zealand actress Dame Kate Harcourt and her parents are film makers Stuart McKenzie and Miranda Harcourt. She is a student at Marsden and she has 3 siblings and a dog, Totoro.
